Brandon Fiscus, 35, from Laporte Indiana, was killed while working in a construction zone on I65 near Merriville Indiana. 23 Year old Jasmine Tirado was driving a black GMC SUV when she hit a construction barrel separating the construction area from the north bound traffic. She then continued into the construction area where she hit Mr. Fiscus, throwing him onto a 2016 F250 Owned by his employer.
Unfortunately, road construction accidents are all too common. While the driver is obviously at fault, oftentimes the driver has limited insurance to compensate the victim’s family. This requires looking to looking at the role of INDOT, the road sign company, general contractors and the employer’s own underinsured motorist insurance.
